We all desire to arrive in a place where there is prosperity, peace, love and joy. This is a normal human desire. We often do our best to get to that place. This is a place of rest, a place we have been dreaming about all our days. This is where we feel accepted, needed and even protected. In this place we see a certain measure of productivity and this fills our cups and we are tempted to think that, we have arrived! There is something that looks like what we have been hoping for, but it’s not quite the real thing! Some people call it the ‘second best option.’ This is not entirely what you are hoping for but it does the job. There is a Palace that God has prepared for you and this is a place of Ease, it’s a place where you will feel entirely at home. Sometimes however, because of life’s struggles we tend to think that our highway to success is the actual ‘Success.’
Look at David for example; he knew that he was anointed to be a leader. In fact God had appointed him to be the next king.
We find David been persecuted by Saul and running for his life. He finds himself with Achish, a certain ruler in his region and Achish offers him a home. The interesting thing about this scenario is that, Achish was so pleased by David’s services to an extent that, he offered David a position of being his ‘Body Guard’ for life, I Samuel 28:20 ! The question that remains is this; What about the ‘Kingship’? I can imagine David having sleepless nights about this offer, was this what God had anointed him for? Yes, he was safe, he was entrusted with a role of being a leader, but was this enough? Was this the Palace that God had prepared for him, or was this just a place of preparation and protection? David had to be listening to God closely, in order for him to see what was in front of him. Don’t let Achish block your vision, seek God, follow your heart and it will lead you to where you need to be. Eventually David was given his rightful posting as a king in Israel.Don’t settle, unless God settles you and He will!
