And so, she relates the
story:-
‘It was as if I had
come across my two guardian Angels; Goodness and Mercy! I believe the Bible
alludes to this, when it talks about Goodness and Mercy following us all the days
of our lives. As I sat at the shopping mall, frustrated that I had lost
my phone and not even sure
how to move forward in trying to track it. Suddenly, two elderly ladies came
and stood next to me. What caught my attention was that these ladies were from
two different backgrounds. One was from a Western background (white elderly
lady).
While the the other lady was from an African background. What was amazing, was
that, both of them were short in stature, active and well built. They were about
the same height, had lovely short kept grey hair, looked like they have had a lovely well lived life.
They expressed themselves
quite eloquently. They looked well and healthy and well kept, as if they both came from
rich academic backgrounds.
As they approached me, right at the same time from different directions, I started conversing with them. We had a seem-less conversation from the onset, as if we’ve always known each other! They agreed with each other and with me on a number of life topics, such as respect among others. I was amazed by this site! As I started to talk to them and looking at how their years seem to have granted them grace, wealth and wisdom, I was astonished. They were warm and easy to communicate with. It felt like they were sent to talk to me directly. They both conversed with me and each other freely, as if we’ve all known each other, for a long time! It was an amazing experience. I spoke to them as I was sitting down, because I had a health challenge which needed me to be seated down. The one lady from the western background, which I now call Goodness, which to me represents right doing, righteousness and being able to differentiate between right and wrong, alluded to the culture and the social expectation that has to do with allowing the elderly to seat while waiting in the line, especially when seats are limited. This is something I often do, wherever I go. If there is an elderly person around and the sitting is limited, I would offer my seat. This comes very naturally to me! However, this time around I had a challenge that needed me to be seating down. My situation had changed and I was in a positon, where I needed to care for my health and this was part of embracing my recovery. I politely informed her about my condition. The one lady I refer to now as Mercy, which represents God’s grace and unmerited favor to me, comforted me and said; ‘Yes, I understand; sit daughter, rest until you regain your strength.’ It felt like heaven had visited me..’ There are times when we are torn between what society expects and what our hearts are yearning for. The bible talks about entering God’s rest. This is about knowing that God is a Father who cares and that He does want us to heal and get well. Yes, society places certain demands on us, but God’s grace and mercy frees us from all such demands in order for us to find our strength and keep going in peace. Forget if you need to, hide if you need to, remove yourself from that situation if you need to, but find your peace and let God’s Grace lead you forward! We are never left without guidance. There is always a balance between Goodness and Mercy; Righteousness and Grace. His Graceful Heart allows us to go through these processes in order for us to find health and healing. This talks about balancing what we think is expected of us to do, compared to what our circumstances are requiring us to do at that particular moment, in order for us to find our healing!
God will never fail
you!
